Dax, Dow, and Nasdaq 100 strong, anticipating U.S. inflation report impact. Market analysis and insights in focus.

Dax, Dow, and Nasdaq 100 exhibited robust performance in the financial markets on Wednesday, setting a solid tone ahead of the eagerly anticipated U.S. inflation report.

Dax Maintains Upward Momentum

The Dax index sustained its upward trajectory, overcoming the indecisiveness of Tuesday’s session. Despite falling short of reaching new highs, the index demonstrated resilience, with potential for further short-term gains above 16,800. Such gains would solidify the short-term bullish sentiment, potentially testing the 17,000 area again and paving the way for new record highs. However, market observers note that a reversal below 16,500 is crucial to indicate a possible deeper pullback.

Germany 40 Indicates Bearish Sentiment

Examining the DAX 40 reveals a bearish sentiment for Germany 40, with 75% of clients net short. Daily and weekly changes in longs, shorts, and open interest (OI) show fluctuations, underscoring the dynamic nature of market sentiment.

Dow Jones Continues Climbing

The Dow Jones index sustained its upward momentum on Wednesday, building upon the rally from Monday. With sights set on new all-time highs, risk is associated with the U.S. inflation report later in the day. Analysts caution that if the report indicates stronger-than-expected inflation, the index may face vulnerability to a medium-term pullback. Such a correction, however, could be considered healthy, providing necessary corrective action after the index’s relentless climb since November. A reversal below 37,200 could catalyze additional short-term downside.

Nasdaq 100 Gains Momentum Ahead of Inflation Data

The Nasdaq 100 displayed upward momentum, approaching the 17,000 level, unless a bearish reaction to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) report in the afternoon alters the course. A breach above 17,000 would signal a return to record highs, with bullish momentum prevailing throughout the week, ending the early January pullback. Reviving a short-term bearish view would require a reversal and close below 16,100.

Investors and analysts remain on the edge as they await the U.S. inflation report, recognizing its potential to shape market dynamics in the coming days.
